Leadership = power?

So I was in one of this team recently. We are given a task and many of us in the group is leader-wanna be. Many of us have this leadership talent in our blood in that group. So two of the group member is trying to lead the group, each of them giving vision on how the team should perform and which direction to take.

So it was chaotic. Both of them are good leaders. They try to manage and keep every task and everyone organized. But the group sort of get separated, one listening to A and one listening to B. Finally all the members get confused. Me standing aside, although I want to be the leader to lead too, but I know in this situation, it is better to let ONLY one person lead. One of them have to pass away the leading work to another. But none of them is willing to pass the job.

So the bottom line is, team leader is not someone who gives order. It is not a symbol of power and a way to prove your ego. It is about getting the group sailing the right direction. Imagine a ship has two captains. One said sails east and one said sails west. Eventually they will not get anywhere. So stop taking the leadership post just to have all the power. It is far beyond that!
